Founder and former creative director of legendary Japanese streetwear brand BAPE, NIGO has been named the creative director of fellow Japanese tour-de-force retailer Uniqlo U.T. Uniqlo’s U.T. line oversees limited edition T-shirts for both men and women, the line has collaborated with Disney and Terry Richardson over recent years. According to reports from Uniqlo, Nigo will begin work immediately with the men’s, women’s and children’s Spring/Summer 2014 lines.
Expect this major addition to add more publicity and traction to Uniqlo, a brand in the midst of expanding its reach vastly to North American retailers. Uniqlo is planning to open 200 stores in North America with projections of U.S. sales to reach $12 billion by 2020.
