Big Sean Decodes ‘Hall of Fame’ Track “First Chain”

If you read the Hall of Fame tracklisting, the most intriguing track by far is “First Chain” which boasts notable features from rap stalwarts Nas and former labelmate Kid Cudi. In this episode of Life + Times‘ “Decoded”, Sean talks about the inspiration behind his lyrics in “First Chain” which allude to the struggle Sean’s hometown of Detroit has and is currently going through. He also breaks down his personal motives behind grinding it out on the amateur scene before receiving the storied Jesus piece chain from G.O.O.D Music owner Kanye West. Watch it all above.

It’s a bittersweet week for Sean as his sophomore album Hall of Fame debuted at #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts moving 72,000 copies in its first week of release. Unfortunately, those numbers are a considerable setback from the 87,000 copies his freshman release Finally Famous debuted with.
