That Was Fast: Avery Johnson Out as Nets Coach

That was unexpected. Brooklyn Nets GM Billy King announced this afternoon that Avery Johnson has been fired as Nets head coach after a 14-14 start. P.J. Carlesimo will be named the interim head coach. Johnson was named coach of the Nets on June 15, 2010.  In two-plus seasons with the Nets, Johnson compiled a record of 60-116. This was honestly unexpected because the Nets problems weren’t at head coach! Deron Williams has been sluggish due to his numerous injuries, Brook Lopez is battling bad feet, and Joe Johnson is playing like he is only worth $5 million a year. The Nets held the second spot in the conference at one point in November. I guess big bad boss man Mikhail Prokhorov wasn’t playing when he said that he strives excellence. Happy Trails Avery!
